The Architectural Examining Board has now adopted and filed amendments to Ch. 5 “Exceptions” in the Iowa Administrative Code (IAC) (rules).  The rules will become effective on July 25, 2018.

The purpose of the amendments is to provide greater clarity to both building officials and the public as to when the services of an architect are, or are not, required.  With the goal of unifying IAC terminology with industry standards, several definitions are now defined in terms relating specifically to the 2015 International Building Code.
